Dark chocolate nonpareils recalled across U.S., including West Virginia and Ohio

WARREN, MI (WTRF) — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that Lipari Foods is recalling its 14-ounce packages of JLM Branded “Dark Chocolate Nonpareils” due to an undeclared milk allergen.

The affected candy, distributed nationwide in retail stores, may pose a serious or potentially life-threatening risk to people with milk allergies, according to the FDA.

The nonpareils are packaged in clear plastic tubs and can be identified by the following lot numbers printed on the bottom label:

  • 28202501A
  • 29202501A
  • 23202504A
  • 14202505A
  • 15202505A
  • 03202506A

So far, no illnesses have been reported, but the recall was initiated after Lipari Foods was notified by Weaver Nut Company, which originally issued a recall of their dark chocolate product for the same issue.

The candies were found to contain milk, which was not disclosed on the label.

Consumers are urged to return the product to the store of purchase for a full refund.

Questions can be directed to Lipari Foods at (586) 447-3500 ext. 9720.
